International Activities

Affiliated Universities and institutions

NUHW has so far agreed on academic cooperation with six universities/faculties and two academic institutes. (See below.) The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were signed and exchanged with these institutions, with the intention of enhancing academic and educational opportunities for both the faculty and the students.

1. Far Eastern State Medical University, FESMU, Khabarovsk, Russia

The agreement was concluded on September 29, 2006. Nursing education of Russia and Japan was discussed. In April, 2008, a symposium was held to discuss the relationship between environmental problems and health issues in Niigata City and Khabarovsk. On February 8, 2011, a new agreement was concluded. The Department of Physical Therapy was to cooperate with FESMU.

2. California State University, Fresno, U.S.A.

The agreement was concluded on June 29, 2007. Since then our staff and undergraduate students from the Department of Physical Therapy have been visiting this university every year. The purpose of these visits is to promote exchanges between the two parties in relation to future research, collaborative education as well as invention techniques. A graduate student of NUHW was enrolled at the graduate school.

3. Angeles University Foundation (AUF), the Philippines

The agreement was concluded on August 18, 2010. Cooperation on research among faculty members and education of students was signed. The English Education is also done at the English Training Program of AUF. Every year one of the faculty members with some students at AUF visits NUHW to attend the seminar on inter-professional education in early September.

4. University of Hawaii, Manoa, USA

The agreement was concluded on August 28, 2011. Research cooperation with the Department of Medical Technology of the University of Hawaii, Manoa, was discussed and agreed upon in 2011. Some students of the Department of Clinical Engineering and Medical Technology of NUHW visit the other party to obtain knowledge and technique on medical technology. In addition, students participate in the English Training Program of the Outreach College of the University of Hawaii. The Department of Health Informatics joins the program.

5. Santo Tomas University(UST), the Philippines

The agreement was concluded on October 26, 2011. Reciprocal cooperation on research and education has been discussed. Cooperation scheme is being under discussion.

6. East Anglia University (EAU), Norwich, UK

The agreement was concluded on December 7, 2011. A Research between the two universities is being considered. Also, collaboration on inter-professional education is under discussion. Every year students of the Department of Nursing of NUHW visit EAU.

7. Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Center

The agreement was concluded on July 2, 2009. Assistance in technology transfer to Sirindhorn National Medical rehabilitation Center was made available. Discussion on cooperation of research between the two institutions was also conducted.

8. Taipei Veterans General Hospital

The agreement was concluded on August 1, 2013. Both institutions discussed the cooperation in research and education on prosthetics & orthotics and assistive technology.
